Rhodes Recreation Centre
Primo Group Services delivered the full design, integration, and commissioning of a multi-zone audiovisual and control system for the Rhodes Recreation Centre. The project created a unified, software-driven platform that enables the City of Canada Bay Council to manage PA, digital signage, broadcast, conferencing, and communication systems seamlessly across the facility. The solution features AMX control processors and touch panels for intuitive, facility-wide operation, supported by a fully networked Dante audio environment for precise routing, paging integration, and high-quality sound reinforcement. Wireless microphone systems provide flexibility for fitness classes, community events, and presentations. A Wi-Fi–based hearing-augmentation system was deployed to meet Australian Standards, allowing patrons to access real-time audio via personal devices for inclusive accessibility. A 165-inch LED video wall forms the visual centrepiece, complemented by networked signage displays delivering live updates and multimedia content. Built on managed PoE network infrastructure and multiple AV VLANs, the system provides a secure, scalable foundation for future expansion.

Brief
Primo Group Services delivered the design, integration, and commissioning of a multi-zone PA, digital broadcast, control, and networked audio system for the Rhodes Recreation Centre. The project established a unified, software-driven platform enabling the City of Canada Bay Council to efficiently manage audiovisual, public-address, digital-signage, video-conferencing, live-streaming, and communication systems throughout the facility.
The system was designed for scalability, reliability, and simplicity. Central AMX NX Series Control Processors coordinate all control zones, integrating seamlessly with audio, visual, and broadcast systems. AMX touch panels installed in reception areas, function spaces, sports halls, and meeting rooms provide intuitive interfaces for source selection, volume control, and system-wide management.
A fully networked digital-audio environment was implemented using Dante-enabled DSPs, delivering precise zone routing, VoIP and paging integration, and advanced signal processing. Amplifiers and loudspeakers provide consistent, high-quality sound across all areas, while Shure wireless microphones enable flexible use for fitness classes, community events, and presentations.
A key component of the project was a hearing-augmentation system, designed in accordance with Australian Standards 1428.5 and NSW accessibility guidelines. The system broadcasts real-time audio streams over the centre’s public Wi-Fi, allowing patrons to connect personal hearing devices or smartphones directly to the venue’s audio feed through an accessible mobile app—ensuring inclusive sound access for all users.
A 165-inch LED video wall forms the centrepiece of the system, providing a dynamic visual platform for presentations, events, and live content. Additional display screens throughout the facility function as a digital signage network, delivering real-time updates, class schedules, and multimedia content.
The network backbone, built on Dante-enabled managed PoE switches, ensures robust digital audio and control connectivity. The AV network operates across multiple VLANs, fully aligned with Council’s IT security policies and network protocols, providing a resilient foundation for future expansion.
